Weekend break to Brockenhurst, New Forest

Updated: Jul 1

A gang of us and our children decided to have some campsite fun over the Coronation Bank Holiday and had a wonderful stay at Longmeadow Campsite in the New Forest near Brockenhurst.

This site was chosen as we had tickets to the Coronation Party at the adjacent New Park Manor hotel. This was another find in itself as it is a luxury family hotel that has a spa and a kids play/cinema room so every age range is entertained. I have made a mental note that a spa stay doesn't have to be expensive when its next to a campsite!

The next day we had lovely weather, in the morning we decided to walk to our lunch destination through the forest and across the open heaths which was about a 3 mile walk. We had a delicious lunch at the Snakecatcher pub which was another superb find. As part of their menu they serve steaks on a hot stone, which proved to be very popular. After dinner we adjourned to the garden where there was a decent playground for the children to play on, and an outside bar serving drinks and ice creams.

After walking back to camp we made the most of the spacious campsite and had a group rounders event which was highly entertaining. This campsite has everything you need for a group break, lots of space, great walks and routes for bike rides. And in the morning you wake up to wild deer in the grounds. The site also has a pizza box that you can order if bbq'ing is not suiting you at any time, which is convenient especially on arrival day.

Sadly this time the weather was not on our site on our pack up day, but its not far to come here and all the kids had such a wonderful time, definitely an annual event for the gang moving forwards.
